Whether you arrive at lunchtime or early evening, the pace is brisk yet unhurried, with efficient, smiling service that keeps the energy pleasant and familiar.
At Friends Chinese Cafe, the menu reads like a warm conversation between traditional favorites and a few unexpected delights. From the fragrant wok-charred beef and silky ho fun noodles to comforting bowls of rich soups and the playful touch of battered chicken balls, each dish feels like a meal savored over stories and laughter. There’s a humility in the cooking that makes the food feel earned and genuine — a balance of flavors that’s comforting rather than flashy, satisfying rather than extravagant.
The café’s charm lies in its ability to welcome all kinds of diners — those who want a quick, shareable bite or a filling plate to linger over, along with a hot cup of classic Hong Kong-style milk tea or refreshing iced lemon coke. It’s also one of those places where a small misstep in language doesn’t feel like a barrier but part of the authentic experience — a human moment shared across cultures, underscored by the warmth of the staff.
In a city filled with polished dining options, Friends Chinese Cafe stands apart as a quietly cherished refuge for anyone looking to experience real, honest Chinese comfort food without the fuss. It’s a spot that feels both familiar and slightly mysterious, where each visit tastes like a small celebration of everyday life and simple pleasures.

This restaurant is arguably the cheapest Chinese food in Glasgow. I came over for my lunchtime meal and ordered a set menu for £6.50. I chose fries and sweet spicy fried chicken fried rice. The fries were not too good. The sweet spicy fried chicken was very tasty and the fried rice with egg was also very good. I like this restaurant and recommend it. But they only accept cash, which makes it inconvenient for me.

Impressed with the food. Got a £10 meal deal which included a starter and a main course. I went for chips as a starter which was quite small but the main course more than made up with it in quantity and quality. Will definitely be back to try other items in the menu.

The service here was very quick the Food came out within minutes of arriving and placing my order. A great place for HK style cafe food. The food was piping hot and tasty. A wide variety of dishes on offer .

Tried the Five Spice Beef Flanks with rice, insanely good. Finally found a local authentic Chinese place to eat. The service was great and quick. The only problem is they accept cash only. But it’s totally worth it. Definitely coming back again.

Tasty Hot Food Quick Service Language Issues Went here while roaming around the city and wanted to try some sweet and spicy Chinese comfort food. The server could not understand English, but was very polite and helpful. Ordered the mixed sea food udan in XO sauce. They offered Chinese tea at no cost. The food was pretty decent. Nothing special about it but good food. Language was an issue for me!

Lovely lunch and service, really low key in the best of ways, that's my cup of tea. All seats are booths so it's nice, private and quiet Noodle crispy wonton soup was amazing, so was the fried rice. Really big portions I absolutely loved the big menu with thick plastic pages Cash only

Authentic Cantonese/ Hong Kong canteen. Food is amazing, portion is large, and price is more than reasonable. Lemon tea is legend - exactly the same as what I had in hk. Service was good too. They were so nice and offered my mom some hot water (and we appreciate that!)
